UA Vs. ASU: The Rematch

There are plenty of sports fans in Arkansas clamoring for an annual match-up between the University of Arkansas and Arkansas State University. It actually happened in basketball 25 years ago, as many may recall.

The big game was a first round NIT match-up that ended 67-64 in overtime. ASU was up by more than 20 in the second half before the Razorbacks stormed back for the victory.

Players from that game are reuniting for a rematch on Saturday, June 9 at Jonesboro High School at 6:30 pm. The “Red on Red” benefit will commemorate the classic game, but more importantly, the proceeds will be used as a

fundraiser for the Northeast Arkansas Children's Advocacy Center, a nonprofit that works with law enforcement to prevent child abuse. Tickets are $10.

Jonathan Reeves with KASU-FM 91.9 has more in this report. Also, you can click here for more details on the children's nonprofit and details about the game.
