Northwest Arkansas State Senate Races Hit Airwaves
Two of the most heated GOP State Senate primary races involve Districts 1 and 7, which saw candidates hit the broadcast and cable TV airwaves this week.
Sen. Bill Pritchard, R-Elkins, launched a :30 second ad on northwest Arkansas cable outlets this week. He faces Rep. Jon Woods, R-Springdale, in the Senate District 7 GOP primary. The winner will run against Democrat Diana Gonzales Worthen of Springdale in the fall.
Pritchard’s spot highlights his community service, military background and business experience. Conservative values are also on display, such as his support for gun rights, prayer in schools and right-to-life issues.
Pritchard and Woods also faced each other this weekend on The City Wire show, which airs on KFSM-TV Ch. 5 in northwest Arkansas. Pritchard and Woods square off on the high-profile nature of their race, including the heated topic of why Woods is challenging Pritchard, the incumbent. Both men agreed to support the eventual GOP nominee versus Worthen. You can access the show clip at this link (embed code not working on our site).
Another spot hitting the airwaves this week is from the Tim Summers for Senate campaign. Summers, R-Bentonville, is running against Bart Hester in the Senate District 1 GOP primary. There is no Democratic opponent.
Summers’ ad establishes his philosophy on government service.
“Tim Summers stands firm for what he believes. Tim believes that complex problems require thoughtful solutions and leadership,” the ad says.
It also touts his conservative gun rights and pro-life stances.
Both ads, which started today on cable TV in the respective Senate districts, appear below.
