John Brown University to form college of business

Siloam Springs – John Brown University announced at a ceremony today (April 26) the formation of a new business college that will house JBU’s undergraduate, graduate and degree completion business programs.

Dr. Joe Walenciak will serve as the head of the new college and has been named the associate dean.

“John Brown University’s business programs have an excellent reputation for teaching ethical business leadership and providing competitive internships, global experience and practical application of business practices,” said Walenciak. “Establishing the College of Business allows us to enhance our ability to prepare students for success.”

Walenciak received his doctoral degree in strategic management from the University of Arkansas and has been teaching business classes in the undergraduate, graduate and degree completion programs at JBU since 1982. Walenciak was named SIFE USA Sam Walton Fellow of the Year in 2010 and inducted in to the SIFE USA Hall of Fame in 2011.

The College of Business offers traditional undergraduate degrees in accounting, business administration, international business, management and marketing. Through the Degree Completion Program, working adults with previous college credit may earn a B.S. degree in organizational management, also available as a fully online program, or in business administration. Graduate business degrees offered include an M.B.A. with emphases in leadership and ethics, leadership and higher education, international business or global continuous improvement, as well as an M.S. with emphases in leadership and ethics or leadership and higher education.

All business and business-related programs of John Brown University are in candidacy for specialized accreditation through Accreditation Council for Business Schools & Programs (ACBSP).
