UAFS Season of Entertainment Choral Concert
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith choirs will present an evening of reflection and devotion as they perform their final concert of the semester. The Women’s Chorus will present the music of Gustav Holst as they sing “Choral Hymns from the Rig Veda,” Group III. Texts from one of the oldest and most important Hindu sacred books are set to music for harp and women’s voices. The Chorale will combine with professional orchestral musicians from the region as they present Franz Joseph Haydn’s “Harmoniemesse,” the final liturgical/concert mass of the composer’s complete oeuvres. This work is the only full mass Haydn wrote for full chorus and soloists that also included a full wind section including clarinets. These masterful works comprise UAFS’s 31st Season of Entertainment Choral Concert at the Arkansas Best Performing Arts Center at the Fort Smith Convention Center, 55 South 7th Street. Tickets are available through the UAFS Box Office at 479-788-7300 or online at http://ticketsage.com/uafs. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. For more information, contact Dr. Rager H. Moore II, Director of Choral Activities at UAFS: [email protected].
