The Peabody Gets Their Ducks In A Row On The Web
It looks like ducks will be doing the Internet.
The Peabody Hotel Group is launching its world famous ducks into cyberspace. The hotel chain, which has locations in Little Rock, Memphis, and Orlando, has created a Duckmaster blog which will chronicle the adventures of the Peabody Ducks and their Duckmasters.
The website is PeabodyDuckmaster.com. It features entries from the Duckmasters, which occasionally will share conversations they have with the ducks.
One of the first entries recalls a recent St. Patrick’s Day discussion between the animals and their gatekeeper.
Writes Duckmaster Donald from Orlando:
I was talking to the world-famous Peabody Ducks this morning reminding them that in just a few days, we’ll be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. The Drake looked at me kind of strange as if he were asking me, “Donald, have you noticed my Kelly green head lately and don’t you remember that we do love eating clovers (both three and four leaf) while lounging in the grass awaiting our various performances?” Yes folks, the Peabody Ducks are way ahead of us when it comes to all things Irish, especially this time of year.
The famed March of the Peabody Ducks officially began in 1940 when then bellman of The Peabody Memphis, and former circus animal trainer, Edward Pembroke, offered to help with delivering the ducks to the lobby fountain each day. Ducks had already been a fixture at the hotel for nearly a decade by then. Today, the Peabody Ducks march at each of the hotels at 11 am and 5 pm daily.
