Bentonville Airport Gets Upgrades
The Bentonville City Council voted March 13 to hire Morrison-Shipley Engineers Inc. to provide design, bid and other services for a $119,200 apron expansion and rehabilitation project at the Bentonville Municipal Airport.
With the 130-acre airport, also known as Louise M. Thaden Field, located near Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Sam’s Club headquarters, city officials have said they want to upgrade its facilities to better meet corporate travel needs.
The city entered a master agreement with Morrison-Shipley a year ago for airport consulting services. The company’s website states its airport services include layout plans, runways and taxiways, aprons and ramps, and airfield signage and lighting.
The expansion project will be funded by a bond program and State Aeronautics Grant.
