Stonewall Democrats Plan Same-Sex Marriage Debate
The Stonewall Democrats of Arkansas are leading an upcoming debate on the legal arguments surrounding same-sex marriage.
The program will be held Thursday, Feb. 9 at 3:15 pm at the UALR Bowen School of Law in Little Rock. The UALR Federalist Society, Bowen Lambda and the ACLU are also presenting the event.
Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, founder and President of the Ruth Institute who testified in favor of the law banning cohabitating couples from adopting or fostering children, will present arguments against same-sex marriage.
Lawyer Christine Sun, formerly of the ACLU LBGT Project and now with the Southern Poverty Law Center, will present arguments for same-sex marriage. Sun was counsel to the state challenge to Act 1, which banned cohabiting couples from adopting or fostering children.
