Pulaski Academy Hires Walsh As Headmaster and CEO
Matthew J. Walsh, Headmaster of LaGrange Academy in LaGrange, Georgia, has been named Pulaski Academy’s Head of School and Chief Executive Officer. He will assume his duties at Pulaski Academy effective June 30, 2012.
A native of West Hartford, Connecticut, Walsh graduated summa cum laude from Georgetown University in 1991 with a major in French and a minor in English. He was the salutatorian of Georgetown’s School of Languages and Linguistics.
He earned a master’s degree in Spanish from Middlebury College in 1995. As part of his foreign language study, Walsh has lived abroad for a year in France and a year in Spain.
Walsh’s 21-year career in independent schools began in 1991 at Portsmouth Abbey School in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, where he taught French and Spanish, served as modern language department chair, coached basketball, baseball, and soccer, served as a faculty advisor, and supervised students in the dormitories.
He subsequently served as Upper School Principal at the Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida and at Visitation Academy, an all-girls school in St. Louis, Missouri. Since 2006, Walsh has served as Headmaster of LaGrange Academy, a K-12 independent school in LaGrange, Georgia.
He and his wife, Janet, a native of Leeds, England, are the parents of three children.
