Mike Huckabee Lands New Daily Radio Gig
Former Arkansas Governor and one-time Republican Presidential candidate, Mike Huckabee, has landed a new deal with Cumulus Media that will place the conservative political and media figure in head-to-head competition with radio icon Rush Limbaugh.
The New York Times reports that Huckabee will host a radio show, The Mike Huckabee Show, from noon to 3 p.m. on the Cumulus network stations.
Huckabee will continue to produce short commentaries, currently distributed by Cumulus Media, and will still host is his weekend Fox News Channel show, “Huckabee.”
If the radio show is embraced by stations and listeners, it will ensure that Mr. Huckabee remains heard by Republican voters for years to come. When asked if he would contemplate a presidential bid again, he began his answer by saying that the show was “an opportunity to comment on issues that are of great importance to me and, I think, the country.“
He continued, “If, a few years down the road, I see an opening, I don’t rule it out, but I’m not plotting a political return either.”
Mr. Huckabee will normally host the radio show from Florida, where he lives, but it will travel with him as he gives speeches and tapes his weekend Fox show. He said he would remain affiliated with Fox News for “as long as they keep renewing my contract,” which is up for renewal this year.
