Book Reading – “Bad News for Outlaws”
In celebration of Black History Month, the Fort Smith Museum of History will offer readings of the children’s book bad News for Outlaws: The Remarkable Life of Bass Reeves, Deputy U. S. Marshal by Vaunda Nelson. The book tells the story of the former slave who became one of Judge Isaac Parker’s most trusted and respected marshals. With more than three thousand arrests to his credit, he brought in more outlaws than any other marshal during the time of the Federal Court of the Western District of Arkansas in Fort Smith.
