Realtor Realignment Will Go to Vote
A proposal to merge the region’s three main real estate boards will be considered Jan. 11.
The Bentonville-Bella Vista Board of Realtors, Rogers Board of Realtors and Washington County-based Metro Area Board of Realtors will vote to merge into one group.
Each of the associations must approve the merger before it takes effect.
Folding the three entities into one would be cheaper and more efficient. Combined membership of the boards is approximately 1,500, about half of what it was a decade ago.
“A central Realtor board under one roof, like we have with the MLS system, just makes more sense,” one area Realtor said. “Starting in 2000, a lot of people got into the business and around 2007 and 2008, a lot of people got out. The Realtors that are left are the ones who are more serious, and really, the market now is all of Northwest Arkansas.”
With declining numbers of Realtor boards and advances in technology, board mergers are a growing industry trend.
“This is just another sign of the way things are in the [real estate] world,” the source said.
