Forty Under 40: Candice Haines
With one parent a teacher and the other “a longtime Walmart guy,” Candice Haines always thought she’d follow her mom’s path.
Haines even spent a year studying elementary education at Drury College before taking an introduction to business class.
“It uncovered a passion that I didn’t really know existed,” she said.
In the end, Haines majored in management and minored in global studies. She then took a job with CCF Brands, and spent five years working as an account manager with its Walmart and Sam’s Club teams.
Haines has been with The Harvest Group less than a year, helping health and beauty companies manage their sales at Walmart and Sam’s.
“I love the companies I’ve worked for,” she said. “They’re both big on the team aspect — collaborating — and I enjoy doing business that way.”
Both of her employers also have encouraged Haines to satisfy a hearty interest in community involvement. She’s active with the Northwest Arkansas Emerging Leaders and Samaritan Community Center, among other groups.
“While business comes first and excellence is expected,” Haines said of The Harvest Group, in particular, “a broader view is encouraged.”
Haines, who will finish her master’s of business administration degree next year, also enjoys yoga and outdoor activities, but her favorite pastime is traveling to concerts. She counts Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre as her favorite venue.
