National Numbers Revealed
From Nov. 9, when Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art had the first of several preview events, to Dec. 21, the Bentonville attraction had logged 61,113 visitors, according to communications director Laura Jacobs.
“We’ve had visitors from California, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Florida, Minnesota, Virginia, Kansas, Texas and many, many other states,” Jacobs said in an email to Whispers. “We’re attracting people from not only the region and state, but from around the nation. I’m sure we’ve had some international visitors, but our guest survey asks for ZIP code so my information is anecdotal.”
She provided a few more numbers: 5,500 individuals and families have become “original members,” with 3,000 of those within the first two weeks that memberships became available, and the museum’s free Apple application, which provides virtual tours, has been downloaded more than 4,500 times from sites around the world.
Jacobs added that people “interested in membership can still join throughout our inaugural year to be considered an ‘original.’”
She shared some visitor feedback, including this: “My grandmother … is 93 years old and worked on war planes during WWII. She was thrilled to see the painting of ‘Rosie the Riveter.’ We all enjoyed the rest of the museum and feel so lucky to have this in our backyard.”
