Wes Clark for Congress? Ain’t Gonna Happen
In the past couple of days, I”ve been asked if there”s any truth to the rumors that Gen. Wes Clark may run for Congress against Rep. Tim Griffin.
My answer: No! It”s not going to happen. No way, no how.
There”s no way in hell the former four-star General wants to become a freshman Congressman at this stage in his career. Clark, 67, ran unsuccessfully for President in 2004 and running for Congress now would be a major step down.
Clark would make a formidable casino spiele candidate for any office, but he”s declined to run for other Arkansas political offices in the past, and I predict he”ll never run for anything again.
There are other credible Democrats talking behind the scenes about making the race against Griffin and I expect we”ll learn more in the coming weeks.
Past public polls have shown that Griffin is very vulnerable and Democrats must recruit a credible candidate to take on this polarizing incumbent.
