Daniel Shue, Prosecuting Attorney, Sebastian County, announced Wednesday (Dec. 21) that he presented the Advocate for Justice Award to Sen. Jake Files, R-Fort Smith, at the Sebastian County Republican Committee Christmas reception held Tuesday.

The Advocate for Justice Award was previously established by the Arkansas Prosecuting Attorneys Association (APAA) to recognize legislators who stood out as being instrumental in helping Prosecuting Attorneys with laws that have been helpful to victims of crime or otherwise beneficial to improving the criminal justice system.

In addition, the Arkansas Prosecuting Attorneys Association voted last Friday to re-elect Shue as an APAA Board member. The following were elected as officers of the APAA: John Threet, 4th Judicial District, president; Marc McCune, 21st Judicial District, vice president; and Daniel Shue, Twelfth Judicial District, secretary/treasurer. Each will serve for the 2012 calendar year.

Shue also announced that the Arkansas Prosecuting Attorneys Association will hold its Fall Conference in Fort Smith. The conference will be held Oct. 18-19, 2012, at the Holiday Inn-City Center, with attendance expected by 250 elected prosecuting attorneys and their deputies. This is the first time in the history of the APAA that their conference will be held in Fort Smith.
