Liberty Branch Location Turns Heads
Liberty Bank of Arkansas plans to move a branch office in Springdale into a new building on Joyce Boulevard in Fayetteville.
The Jonesboro-based bank has applied to the Arkansas State Bank Department for a branch relocation at 1400 E. Joyce Blvd. The site is next to Masons, on 2.69 acres near Vantage Road.
Howard Hamilton, the bank’s president for Northwest Arkansas, said the Springdale office, in a leased building on South Thompson Street, was always considered a temporary location, but plans to build a new office were put on hold during the recession.
“We feel like this is a good time for us to go forward with those original plans,” he said.
Hamilton said Liberty hoped to get approval from the Fayetteville Planning Commission on Dec. 12 and begin construction within 30 to 45 days after that. Bank officials hope to open the new office in March.
The planned 20,000-SF building “will be pretty much of a centerpiece for our Northwest Arkansas operation,” Hamilton said.
About 22 people work at the Springdale branch, and they’ll move to the new location. Hamilton said they’ll probably add a few employees as well.
The Joyce location will be the bank’s second in Fayetteville. The existing branch is at 3010 W. Martin Luther King Blvd.
