Cotton Signals Support for Keystone Pipeline
Fourth District Congressional candidate Tom Cotton joined Congressman Tim Griffin and a committee of Arkansas state legislators today in supporting the building of the Keystone Pipeline from Canada to Texas. The support was highlighted in a fundraising email Cotton sent to supporters today.
“Without necessary pipeline infrastructure, much oil exploration and production can be uneconomical. Some pipeline projects are in the works, but others, such as the Keystone XL pipeline, are being delayed by President Obama for political reasons,” says Cotton in the email. “The Keystone XL pipeline will produce jobs not only through construction — over 20,000 jobs, to be exact — but also through greater U.S. oil production, which has produced over one-fifth of all private-sector jobs since 2003. President Obama should stop playing politics with our country’s energy security and grant the Keystone permit.”
“In Congress, I will support policies that unleash our energy producers so that we can put America on the path to energy independence. By reducing our dependence on foreign oil, we’ll grow our economy, create good jobs right here at home, and advance national security.”
Cotton’s email states he is seeking to raise $5,000 online this month.
Cotton is competing with Beth Anne Rankin and Marcus Richmond for the Republican nomination in the Fourth Congressional District. So far, State Sen. Gene Jeffress is the only announced Democratic candidate.
Noted – The current Congressman Mike Ross has also indicated his support for the pipeline.
