Boat Maker Move To Add 25 Jobs in Mountain Home
It looks like another boat maker may come to Arkansas.
Thanks to a reader for directing us to an article in the Baxter Bulletin, which notes that BassCat Boats has acquired Wausau, Wisc.-based Yar-Craft Boats.
Yar-Craft makes boats designed for walleye anglers.
BassCat, co-owned by Mountain Home’s Rick Pierce, plans to move production to north-central Arkansas and add 25 new workers.
From the Baxter Bulletin:
“Yar-Craft is an exciting move for us. We were looking at Yar-Craft about four years ago with Corey (Suthers, Yar-Craft owner), and the timing was just not right for us then,” Pierce said. “We are much more prepared now to bring Yar-Craft past where Corey and his team have taken the brand.”
Yar-Craft manufacturing will be moved to the Midway BassCat plant where both lines will be produced from the BassCat facility. About 25 additional craftsmen will be required at the Midway plant to launch Yar-Craft production that is expected to generate 100 to 125 units a year, Pierce said.
