Kimberly-clark Eyeing Maumelle Expansion
Kimberly-Clark Corp. could expand its Maumelle baby wipe facility adding up to $50 million in new investments and 20 new jobs to the city.
On Monday night, the Maumelle City Council passed an ordinance allowing for a $22-$50 million revenue bond issue to help finance the possible expansion.
Maumelle Mayor Mike Watson tells Talk Business that the Irving, Texas-based company is looking to add one or two production lines to its current facility if Kimberly-Clark’s corporate headquarters decides to make an expansion investment. He said Kimberly-Clark could also be looking at additions to other facilities and product lines in its manufacturing portfolio.
Watson said he thought a decision could come by the end of November.
"We’re looking forward to a future groundbreaking early next year," Watson said hopefully.
Kimberly-Clark is a worldwide manufacturer and distributor of health and hygiene products.
