As pundits speculate on the political future of Bill Halter, the former Arkansas Lt. Governor and 2010 Senate Democratic candidate is adding to his business resume.

Halter has joined the board of directors of SCIenergy, Inc., which describes itself as a "global leader in providing cloud-based energy management solutions for building owners and operators."

A press release from the organization lists Halter’s business credentials:

Halter has advised Fortune 500 companies from a range of industries while working as a management consultant with McKinsey and Company, and has served on the boards of five public companies: Akamai Technologies, webMethods, InterMune, Xenogen, and Threshold Pharmaceuticals.

"We are very excited to welcome Bill to our board. He has a unique and impressive cross section of experience and trusted relationships with policy makers in the public sector and decision makers in the private sector," said Russ McMeekin, SCIenergy President and CEO.

"He will be a key advisor and strategist in our efforts to make public and private buildings more energy efficient and emphasize the importance of how energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives can reduce spending and create jobs," McMeekin added.

"I have admired SCIenergy’s development of technologies to reduce energy consumption and costs in commercial buildings. The company’s services provide significant savings for both public and private sector customers. Buildings account for 20 percent of energy consumption in America alone, and SCIenergy has recognized how to resolve that financial and environmental burden with cloud based energy management solutions," Halter said in the announcement.

SCIenergy, based in San Francisco, was formed from a merger of Scientific Conservation and Servidyne. The company has 160 employees worldwide.

Halter has been at the center of political speculation for a possible Congressional run in 2012 in the Second or Fourth Districts. He is also considered a potential 2014 candidate for statewide office.
