Clean & Green: Food Club

What if you could shop for the freshest, locally grown meats and produce from the comfort of your home and have your order delivered for pick-up at a central location?

You can and many central Arkansas residents are now taking advantage of this online farmers market.

The Little Rock Food Club is sponsored by the Arkansas Sustainability Network. Members pay a monthly fee to join the online farmers’ market.

Between Sunday and Wednesday, the online "doors" are open for members to place orders. Then on Saturday, they show up at downtown Little Rock’s Christ Episcopal Church to pick up their selections, which are already pre-bagged and labeled.  You order exactly what you want from the farms you choose.

Unlike traditional outdoors farmers’ markets, this marketplace is open year-round.

About 90% of purchases go back to growers, while 10% is kept for the non-profit food club’s expenses. Currently, 30 growers are participating in the market and nearly 300 members are signed up for the unique shopping experience.
