Highlands Oncology Group held an open house and ribbon-cutting Sept. 12 to dedicate its new comprehensive cancer care clinic in Rogers.

With the expansion of the HOG practice, administrator Kathey Parker says Northwest Arkansas now has the premier cancer treatment facility in the state.

“It is the best,” she said. “The technology that we have is cutting edge and our doctors make it the best. They all have a genuine desire to take care of cancer patients. Their heart is in it.”

Construction of the $8 million, two-story clinic was completed earlier this summer and the first patients were treated in mid-July.

HOG, formed in 1996, now has two locations with a staff of 226 at the Rogers clinic, 196 of them full time. That total includes 11 physicians, three APNs and approximately 30 nurses.

Like the Fayetteville location, the new treatment center offers services and technologies including PET/CT scans, MRIs, X-rays, ultrasound, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, world-class laboratories, clinical trials and a retail pharmacy.

The facility also has the Trilogy system, touted as the most powerful, precise and versatile cancer treatment solution ever provided by one product.

Besides the treatment and technology, the facility also features a chapel, resource center and a coffee shop & café.

Walker also noted the clinic’s attention to detail in both structural design and appearance, hoping to maximize the patient experience. The building – with a brick, glass and metal exterior – features open, modern architectural and interior design that is intended to make patients and their families more comfortable and more relaxed.

The artwork throughout the building, Walker said, was provided by a group of 11 local artists. Their works were bought by the building’s owners, Quark LLC, a group of doctors that practice for HOG.
