Brummett: Have You Seen This Poll?
John Brummett, political columnist with our content partner, the Arkansas News Bureau, chimes in with analysis of our latest round of polling from Talk Business and Hendrix College.
He notes the horrible approval numbers for President Obama and speculates that it could significantly hurt Democratic candidates down-ballot. However, as our polling also revealed, Congressional Republicans in the First and Second District aren’t sitting in spectacular shape.
There is no emerging Democratic challenger to Griffin in central Arkansas, though Bill Halter, who called me today to chat about another matter, said “stay tuned” when I inquired as to his potential interest in that race or any other political re-entry.
In the 1st District, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is courting state Rep. Clark Hall of Marvell, a country boy farmer who darned near passed that Fayetteville Finger congressional redistricting scheme for the Democrats last year.
The opening in the 4th? Putting my money on Tom Cotton, the war veteran and resume-rich young Republican from Dardanelle.
In other words, I seem to be predicting an all-Republican congressional delegation for the state in January 2013.
