Verizon Wireless will begin offering its 4G Long Term Evolution network in Benton and Washington counties on Aug. 18.

Residents with 4G LTE smartphones, laptop modems and hotspots will be able to use the network, which is up to 10 times faster than Verizon’s 3G network, the company said in a news release.

Users of the 4G LTE network should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.

Verizon introduced the first large-scale LTE network in December, and currently serves more than 110 million people in 102 markets.

The company is on track to bring 4G LTE to its entire 3G wireless network by the end of 2013, the news release stated.
