Three Sisters describes the lives and aspirations of the Prozorov family, the three sisters (Olga, Masha, and Irina) and their search for meaning in the modern world. They grew up in the urban setting of Moscow, but have been forced to live in a small town for the past eleven years, an existence which they long to escape from. One of the greatest early realistic plays and the basis for great American playwrights like Arthur Miller and Tennessee Williams.
