J.C. Penney Co. Inc. has announced it will hold a grand opening event for its newly renovated store in the Northwest Arkansas Mall on Aug. 12, beginning at 8:45 a.m.

The project includes the addition of a 1,500-SF Sephora store at the center of J.C. Penney. The boutique is expected to employ eight to 12 specially trained consultants, and will offer about 50 brands in makeup, skincare, haircare, fragrance and accessory products.

The cost of the total renovation at the store is more than $3 million, according to a company news release. JCP has dedicated $650 million in capital expenditures for store improvement projects this year.

According to corporate communications senior specialist Sarah Kelleher, JCP first partnered with Sephora in 2006. The Fayetteville location is one of 21 such store openings in August, bringing the total number of Sephora outlets inside JCP to 297.
