Nursing program proposal approved by ATU trustees
The Arkansas Tech University Board of Trustees voted Thursday (Aug. 18) to approve a program proposal for an Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing at the Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus.
The proposal is now scheduled for an Oct. 28 review by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Trustees also approved the salary schedule for personnel at the Arkansas Tech Career Center in Russellville, which was previously known as the Area Career and Technical Center before coming under the oversight of ATU-Ozark on July 1.
The ATU trustees and the Russellville school board approved in October 2010 the partnership plan that will allow ATU-Ozark to give college credit for technical instruction delivered to ACTC to surrounding school districts. Those districts Russellville, Dardanelle, Atkins, Pottsville, Lamar, Clarksville, Hector, Twin Rivers, Western Yell, Dover and Danville.
Other ATU trustees actions taken Thursday related to ATU-Ozark were:
• Transfer of $52,142 from the unappropriated educational and general funds balance to cover the cost of constructing a parking lot at Arkansas Tech-Ozark Campus that will accommodate 82 vehicles by Nov. 15;
• Approval of a three-phase security upgrades plan for Arkansas Tech-Ozark Campus that will include outdoor lighting improvements, security cameras and emergency call stations by Jan. 10, 2012; and,
• Approval of three meal plan options for students at Arkansas Tech-Ozark Campus.
