Arkansas Republicans Miss Another Chance To Regain Some Credibility

Earlier this week, I wrote an article that raised the question of whether or not the Republican Party of Arkansas would attack Governor Rick Perry for Texas’ unemployment rate.

After all, they previously sent out press releases (here and here) attacking Governor Beebe for Arkansas’ unemployment rate and the fact of the matter is Texas’ unemployment rate is higher.  What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, right?

Apparently not. Today, new unemployment figures were released showing Arkansas’ unemployment figure went from 8.1% to 8.2% last month.  And like clockwork, the Republican Party of Arkansas sent out a boiler-plate press release blaming Arkansas Democrats for the .1% increase in unemployment.

However, in Texas last month that figure jumped from 8.2% to 8.4%!

So I ask, why doesn’t the Republican Party go after Rick Perry and Texas Republicans for the increase in that state’s unemployment rate?  In Texas, Republicans control everything, both chambers of the Legislature, the Governor’s office, both U.S. Senate seats, etc., but they are somehow absolved from any blame for that state’s unemployment increase?

Rick Perry, Arkansas GOP legislators, and the Republican Party tout the increase in jobs in Texas over the past few years, but as Republican strategist Mike Murphy noted recently, they’re all at Burger King or government jobs.

C’mon RPA, be consistent in your condemnation for unemployment numbers. It’s pretty easy to see through your hypocrisy.
