Ahimsa* Rescue Foundation (ARF), a 501(c)3 established in 2002 with the purpose of placing homeless animals in good homes in eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas, is hosting its second annual Saving Paws benefit on Oct. 14 from 6-10 pm. at Fort Smith’s Riverfront Pavilion.

Proceeds go to an on-going project to turn a former Muldrow nursing home into an animal rescue, sanctuary and adoption facility. Since its inception, ARF has placed more than 1,500 animals in carefully screened homes. But because the homeless animal crisis is at record levels, more help and money is needed.

New for this year’s entertainment line-up is the Dorian Cross Band and comedian Seth Dees. The award-winning Ralph’s Pink Flamingo will return to cook up the eats while local funny guy and ARF volunteer, Doug Shadell, will host the gala.

Tickets, which include food and beverage, are $50; tables (seating eight) are $500. All donations are tax-deductible. Tickets are available at Belle Starr Antiques and Beauty’s, by calling 918-427-5087, e-mailing [email protected] or visiting www.ahimsarescuefoundation.org.
