About a year ago, we told you a restaurant and sports bar called Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery might open in the former T.G.I. Friday’s building in Fayetteville. Well, it’s finally going to happen, a company spokesman says.

Corey Bass, area developer for Tempe, Ariz.-based Tilted Kilt, says Bill Slevin of Illinois owns the building at 3619 N. Mall Ave., and is the franchisee of the Fayetteville location.

They are shooting  for a late October or early November opening, “to get in at least a couple of football games.”

This will be the first Arkansas location for Tilted Kilt, which has about 60 pubs nationwide. Featuring a Celtic theme and scantily clad waitstaff, it offers a large selection of beers on tap, plenty of big-screen TVs and a full menu.

The 6,650-SF pub will seat about 190 in the dining room and bar areas, and another 50 on the patio.

Bass said about 90 people will be hired locally to ensure the opening goes smoothly, but then they’ll lower that number to about 60. They’ll announce a “casting call” a few weeks before opening to take applications.
