Rex Terry appointed to judicial commission

Arkansas Lt. Gov. Mark A. Darr announced on Wednesday (June 29) the appointment of Fort Smith attorney Rex Terry to serve a six-year term as an Alternate Member on the Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission.

The Commission may initiate, and shall receive and investigate, complaints concerning misconduct of all justices and judges, and requests and suggestions of involuntary disability retirement, according to Darr’s press release.

As an Alternate Member. Terry’s primary function will be serving on a three person investigative panel to which he is appointed by the executive director.
 
“Rex is not only a friend, but also a person of the highest ethical standard. Rex is recognized as a strong voice in the legal community for ethics and fair play. I know that he will be a terrific addition to this important commission,” Darr said in the statement.
 
Terry has for more than 35 years been with the Hardin, Jesson & Terry law firm in Fort Smith, where he is a partner. He previously served as a Special Justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court.

Terry earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Ouachita Baptist University, where he graduated cum laude. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. While there, he served as editor-in-chief of the Arkansas Law Review.

Terry, a native of Tyronza and his wife, the former Ginger Ashcraft of Pine Bluff, reside in Fort Smith and are the parents of five adult children, Anna, Samuel, David, Elizabeth and John.
