Local Couple Launches Online Gift-Giving Site
Nick Hodge and his wife, Karly, embrace the entrepreneurial spirit.
And from that enthusiasm, the couple launched their one-of-a-kind business in January.
Billed as a gift-giving supplement, GiftSling.com may be the perfect destination for two distinct sets – those who don’t like the hassle of buying gifts, or those who need a gift for the impossible-to-buy-for.
“We have ideas all the time,” said Nick Hodge, a Utah native who works for R&R Solutions in Gravette. “When we researched it and found out that this type of gift giving simply did not exist, we went for it.”
Here’s how it works. Visit the website – which Hodge built himself – answer a variety of questions including who the gift is for and the type of event, and a gift is shipped based on the results.
Gifts are chosen from an inventory of 30 gifts for a male and 30 for a female.
The cost is a flat fee of $21.95. According to the website, gifts can range from unique to funny to ridiculous.
“Some of them might even be worth much more then you paid us for them,” Hodge said. “That’s all part of the fun.”
Gift orders have been modest, though the company did send out 30 purchases orders in May, up from 10 in April. Hodge says the company should exceed that total in June.
“We’ve had a few repeat customers and from as far away as Canada and Germany,” Hodge said.
