The University of Arkansas will begin offering an undergraduate minor in sustainability, the school announced April 26.
The announcement follows recent approval of the minor by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education. Students can declare the minor beginning Aug. 15.
The university catalog describes the purpose of the minor in sustainability as providing foundational knowledge and skills related to the emerging discipline of sustainability, according to a news release.
Professor Stephen Boss, director of the university’s environmental dynamics doctoral program, will co-direct the program along with associate professor of architecture Tahar Messadi.
