The 19th annual Jack White Legislative Golf Classic is a unique golf event in that it connects elected and appointed officials from around the state with members of the Fort Smith regional business community.

The event had 24, four-person teams playing at Fianna Hills Country Club in Fort Smith. Area legislators participating in the event included Sen. Jake Files, R-Fort Smith, and Reps. Stephanie Malone, R-Fort Smith, and Tracy Pennartz, D-Fort Smith.

Players gathered for a lunch before beginning the event in a shotgun format.

In addition to providing networking between area businesses and government officials, the event is also a fundraiser for the Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The golf classic, originally began as the Arkansas-Oklahoma Legislative Golf Classic, was renamed in 1997 following the death of Jack White, a community leader who made significant leadership contributions in the region. White, the Arkansas Manager for Oklahoma City-based Oklahoma Gas & Electric, was chairman of the chamber’s board of directors.

OG&E is the presenting sponsor of the classic.
