Clean & Green: Plant It Pink

Despite the rain, spirits were not dampened on a recent Saturday morning in downtown North Little Rock’s Argenta district.

City officials, breast cancer survivors and representatives of the local Susan G. Komen affiliate joined parade leader and gardening guru, P. Allen Smith, for what many hope will be an ever-growing annual event.

Smith and Argenta Arts Foundation leader John Gaudin created the "Plant it Pink" festival, a downtown beautification effort that included 25,000 tulips in 28 beds and 50 sidewalk containers.

The splash of color is spectacular and will occur several times a year thanks to Smith’s gardening prowess.
