Reading and Book Signing with Judith Houston-Emerson
Join the Fort Smith Museum of History on Saturday, March 19, 2011, 2:00 p. m. for a reading and book signing with Judith Houston-Emerson author of The Myth Makers. The story of a Cherokee family set in the time of Indian Removal explores the ancient religion of the Nation amidst witchcraft, missionaries and white intrusion. Ms. Houston Emerson is a registered member of the Cherokee Nation and a former high school English teacher. She studied with the Art Students League in New York City, worked for the National Museum of the American Indian, for the Cherokee and Philbrook Museums in Oklahoma as well as teaching Art History of the American Indian at the University of Central Oklahoma.
