The University of Arkansas recently announced the appointment of its first assistant director of corporate and foundation relations for sustainability, Greg Lewis.

In his new role, Lewis will concentrate on securing private sector funding for the Sustainability Consortium and creating new partners for it. The consortium is a joint effort directed by the UA and Arizona State University, and essentially is a collection of organizations that collaborate to drive innovation to improve consumer product sustainability.

Lewis currently reports to Jon Johnson, co-director of the Sustainability Consortium and director of the university’s Applied Sustainability Center. He’ll also report to the director of corporate and foundation relations in the office of university development when that position is filled.

“I have personal ties to this area, and I am thrilled to join a fundraising team that is skilled and accomplished,” Lewis said in a news release. “My passion for sustainability is strong, and I’m excited to help advance this area of research and its certain global impact by forging new relationships for the consortium.”

Lewis most recently worked as program director for a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit research group dedicated to economic vitality, environmental quality and regional equity for 18 states.
