Officials at John Brown University in Siloam Springs recently announced an overall increase of 5.25 percent for tuition, fees, room and board.

The new structure will be effective for the 2011-2012 academic year. According to a news release, the additional tuition covers increases in operating costs, such as utility costs and service contracts, and compensation adjustments for JBU faculty and staff.

Based on historical data provided by the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, JBU’s total cost is typically ranked 64th among more than 70 private Christian schools that participate in the survey.

JBU also has increased its “need and merit-based institutional aid budget” by more than $1 million, president Chip Pollard said in the release.
