For those wishing to be in Vegas, they didn’t have to travel far. The 15th annual Casino Royale at Trinity Junior High School took place on Friday (Feb. 12) where guests could partake in Las Vegas-style gaming from the Knights of Columbus.
The event also included dinner, live and silent auctions, a heated cigar patio and a chance to join the band Time Machine on stage and sing songs.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Trinity Junior High School and approximately 300 revelers came out to support the function which is the biggest monetary event for Trinity. The funds are used for tuition and scholarships for students. Last year, the event raised approximately $50,000 with hopes to raise that amount or more this year.
Every poker fan would have loved a dinner that consisted of black jack brisket, poker chip pulled pork, slot machine shrimp, rolling dice drummettes, royale flush relish tray, full house fruit and cheese tower, and even three of a kind New York, just to name a few of the items to wet your palate.
With more than 100 items up for silent auction, there was a little something for everyone. The silent auction began around 6 p.m. and ended around 9:30 p.m. The live auction began with a beautiful condo get-away for a two night stay in Fayetteville which included two tickets to the season opener game between the Razorbacks and Missouri State and a $100 gift certificate at Theo’s Restaurant.
A hybrid Golden Doodle puppy was also auctioned off during the live auction. Wendy Hindley was the lucky winner of the pooch. When asked what she would name the puppy, she said, “that her and her husband had decided to let their two boys name the puppy.” They have another small dog and the boys had named her Maggie so they felt safe in letting the boys pick out a boys name for the puppy.
Once the live auction was complete, the band Time Machine took to the stage. Guests wanting to be a rock star were given the chance to join the band on stage and sing songs karaoke.
For the cost of $75 per ticket, guests had dinner, drinks, an atmosphere similar to Vegas, and entertainment in which they could be a participant with all funds going for a good cause: education.
