Burrito Battle

Apparently undeterred by two nearby existing burrito makers, Chipotle Mexican Grill expects to open a location in the former Fayetteville train depot on Dickson Street.

That’s according to a Chipotle spokesman, who said it’s too early to release an official open date. The best guess is late March or early April.

The spokesman also said the restaurants vary in size, but generally are about 2,000 SF. They typically employ 20-25 workers.

Some quick research revealed the first Chipotle opened in 1993, outside investors were brought on in 1998, and the company went public in 2006. Chipotle boasts that 100 percent of its pork and chicken, and more than 85 percent of its beef, is “naturally raised.”

We’ll be interested to see how all of that stacks up against fellow chain Qdoba Mexican Grill and local favorite The Flying Burrito Co.
