The Fort Smith Area Manufacturing Executive Association announced new officers for 2011. Serving as president of the organization is Greg Boschert, plant manager of Owens-Corning; vice president is Randy Breaux, a vice president at Baldor Electric Co.; and serving as secretary/treasurer is Kent Jones, CEO of Westark Diversified Enterprises.

The MEA was organized in 1974 and for 36 years has served the Fort Smith and eastern Oklahoma manufacturing community to create a positive manufacturing environment by working with local and state agencies for pro-business legislation, education and community improvement, noted the MEA statement.

The Workforce Leadership program at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith and the Employers Healthcare Coalition are examples of MEA-inspired changes.

Monthly MEA luncheon meetings include topical presentations, meetings with elected officials or plant tours hosted by a member company. The MEA serves 50 area manufacturers.
