Appointments create opening on Highway Commission

Gov. Mike Beebe today (Jan. 7) announced several key appointments, one of which creates a vacancy on the Arkansas Highway Commission.

Beebe appointed Elana Wills of Little Rock to the Public Service Commission. Her appointment expires Jan. 14, 2013 and fills the vacancy left by former PSC Chairman Paul Suskie’s resignation.

Current PSC Commissioner Collette Honorable will assume the role of Chairman.

Beebe also announced the following judicial appointments:

• Ernest Cate, Springdale, as Springdale District Judge. Appointment expires Dec. 31, 2012.  Replaces Stanley Ludwig.

• Cliff Hoofman, Enola, as Associate Judge for District 2 on the Arkansas Court of Appeals. Appointment expires Dec. 31, 2012. Replaces Karen Baker. Hoofman has resigned from the Arkansas Highway Commission, his replacement will be announced soon.

• Doug Martin, Fayetteville, as Associate Judge for District 3 on the Arkansas Court of Appeals. Appointment expires Dec. 31, 2012. Replaces Courtney Henry.

• Tom Wynne, Fordyce, as Dallas County District Judge. Appointment expires Dec. 31, 2012. Replaces Robin Wynne.
