Seven games in the state of Arkansas highlight Arkansas’ 2011 football schedule, which was announced Tuesday.
"Our fans can look forward to another exciting season of Razorback football in 2011," Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. "The 2011 schedule features three consecutive in-state games to open the season, four home games against Southeastern Conference teams, the annual trip to Arlington to play Texas A&M in the Southwest Classic and a trip to Baton Rouge to resume the traditional Friday after Thanksgiving series with LSU.”
The Razorbacks open the season with three consecutive home games, including one at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, before traveling for the first time to Alabama on Sept. 24. Arkansas opens its season Sept. 3 by hosting Missouri State in Fayetteville before welcoming New Mexico to Little Rock on Sept. 10 and returning to Fayetteville to face Troy on Sept. 17.
Following the trip to Tuscaloosa, Arkansas resumes the Southwest Classic by playing the third installment against Texas A&M at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Oct. 1. The next week, the Razorbacks return home to host Auburn on Oct. 8 before the bye week.
After the bye, Arkansas has back-to-back road trips to Ole Miss and Vanderbilt on Oct. 22 and Oct. 29, respectively. The Razorbacks then host South Carolina on Nov. 5 and Tennessee, who comes back on the schedule for the first time since 2007, on Nov. 12 in Fayetteville before wrapping up the home slate by hosting Mississippi State in Little Rock on Nov. 19.
The regular season ends with a trip to Baton Rouge, La., to take on LSU on Friday, Nov. 25. The annual Battle for the Boot returns to Friday after Thanksgiving after being played on Saturday the past two seasons. The game will be nationally televised by CBS Sports at 1:30 p.m. CT.
