Little ones ranging from 18 months to 10 years enjoyed a fun-filled morning at the 16th annual Teddy Bear Tea with Santa on Saturday (Dec 4) at the Holiday Inn.
Santa and Mrs. Claus greeted awaiting guests with goodies. Each child received a goody bag and passport to enter into the North Pole to get their faces painted, snacks, Disney Karaoke, animal balloons, cookie decorating and entertainment by the Western Arkansas Ballet.
Approximately 100 children chaperoned by parents were present at the event. Last year, the event raised approximately $2,000 and organizers hoped to reach that goal again. Proceeds from the event benefit The Gregory Kistler Treatment Center For Children. The Kistler Center has been helping area children live their most productive lives possible for more than 30 years through physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language therapy.
To begin the morning, the children sat on Santa’s lap for a chat and picture before entering the North Pole. Once inside, they could choose which activity booth to begin their journey around the Pole.
The Disney Karaoke and balloon animals were a big hit with the little ones. From swords to octopuses, everyone was happy with their balloon.
Snacks of donuts, muffins, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches along with choice of juice, milk, hot apple cider or hot chocolate were enjoyed by all. The Western Arkansas Ballet performed before the guests and were available to take pictures with the kids.
After visiting each activity booth, the children got their passport stamped to ensure that they had participated in each activity. Ticket numbers were drawn and each child left with a teddy bear of their choice. Raffle tickets were also sold and one lucky winner got to take home a sled.
