Timmons moves to new job at UAFS
Dr. Rebecca Timmons of Fort Smith has been named director of assessment and accountability at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, effective Dec. 1.
Her duties will include developing and administering policies and processes to supply comprehensive data across campus, co-chairing the university’s overall assessment program and assuming responsibilities for all activities related to on-going activities with the Higher Learning Commission, the university’s regional accrediting agency.
This position also requires on-going data collection and analysis required by various state and federal agencies in collaboration with the university’s Office of Institutional Effectiveness.
Timmons had served as executive director for the Center for Lifelong Learning since 2007 and will help guide this office on campus until a new leader is selected after a national search is completed this fall, according to Dr. Ray Wallace, provost and senior vice chancellor. In addition, Timmons will continue in her role as director of the UAFS bachelor’s degree program in organizational leadership.
Timmons has a doctorate in workforce education from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and both a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Education in Business Education degree from Texas Tech University. She has been employed at the university since 1988, first as a member of the faculty before moving into administration. She also previously worked at Texas Tech University and Amarillo College.
