Recent Graduates of the EMT/Paramedic Program at Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus received a 100% pass rate on their National Register of Emergency Medical Technicians Exam, according to a statement from ATU-Ozark.

The single most important goal of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) is to offer assurance that EMS personnel providing treatment to patients — at their highest moment of need — are competent.

The NREMT was founded in 1970 as a result of the recommendations made by the Committee on Highway Traffic Safety. This committee proposed a national certification agency to establish uniform standards for training and examination of personnel active in the delivery of emergency ambulance service.

“The Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic faculty is very proud of our graduates. These men and women must devote a great deal of time to not only pass the class and lab work, but clinical and field internship study as well. We would not be able to produce students of this level without our local hospitals and emergency medical services aiding in their education,” said Ritchie Powers, program chair.

The EMT/Paramedic program is designed to meet the educational and training needs of those individuals who wish to gain Arkansas Department of Health Licensure and National Registry of EMT’s Certification as a Paramedic. Career opportunities exist with air and ground emergency medical services, fire departments, medical centers and industry. Among other characteristics, a Paramedic should possess dignity, empathy and tolerance. Under the direction of a physician, the student will be presented with arterial to aid them in: assessment of the pre-hospital needs of the acutely ill or injured patient, triage, and basic as well as advanced life support, communication skills and maintaining the level of care as the patient is transported to a health care facility.

The Ozark campus also offers EMT/Paramedic training in Russellville.
