Games, rides and food lit up the night for the spectators, beauties and bull riders during the 66th annual Sebastian County Fair. Hundreds of spectators came out to watch not only the rough bull riding finals but also to see who would be crowned 2010 Miss Sebastian County Fair Queen.
The fair kicked off on Tuesday, Aug. 24, and ran through Aug. 28. The fair featured live music every night, carnival rides, beauty pageants, livestock judging and auction and bull riding. The little ones even enjoyed “Mutton Bustin.”
Six girls competed for the title of 2010 Miss Sebastian County Fair Queen, but only one could win the crown. From evening wear to interviews, each contestant was closely watched by the judges. Instead of a swimsuit competition, the ladies dressed up in their favorite sport attire.
During the interviews, Megan Organ described her own personal experience with colon cancer. Her father was diagnosed in 2001 with colon cancer, and she hopes to be an advocate for colon cancer informing others to watch for the warning signs and what steps you need to take to prevent this disease. Colon cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in the United States. One in 19 Americans will be diagnosed with colon cancer in their lifetime.
Emily McCollom was named 2010 Sebastian County Fair Queen.
From cowboy nachos to corn dogs there was something to tickle all taste buds. There were kiddie rides to bigger rides that everyone could enjoy. There were even games for those who don’t enjoy riding the rides.
