Sports Bar Expansion On Hold

Remember Benchwarmers, the Hooters-esque sports bar we told you would be taking over the space formerly occupied by O’Charley’s and Meaux Dad’s in Fayetteville, just in time for football season?

Well, as that guy on ESPN says, “Not so fast, my friend.”

It seems any plans involving the Colorado-based Benchwarmers’ expansion – its website promoted another location in Fort Smith and two in Little Rock – have been put on ice due to CEO Kevin Foote being sent to the slammer.

According to the Boulder County Daily Camera, Foote was arrested – suspicion of violating parole – on July 28 and remained in jail as of press time. Foote’s criminal history apparently includes, fraud, larceny, etc.

A person familiar with the ongoings at the Fayetteville store told us the landlord of that property believes all bets are now off – not counting those Week 1 parlays, of course.
