Boozman, Keet launch new campaign ads
On the day many candidates for state office are filing their campaign reports, there was political activity on the media front.
Cong. John Boozman, the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, takes a swipe at incumbent Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln with a new online ad. In the ad spoofing an old Flintstones vitamin commercial, a small children’s chorus sings that our national debt is "13 trillion dollars strong and growing."
More interesting is the media strategy between the Jim Keet for Governor and Re-elect Gov. Mike Beebe campaigns.
Keet is airing his second ad of the race on television in various parts of the state. Talk Business has researched several TV stations in the central and northwest Arkansas media markets and discovered that Keet’s buys have been weekly.
During the last two weeks, Keet has purchased approximately $51,000 on broadcast TV in the Little Rock market. In northwest Arkansas, his buy has topped $36,000. He is also buying spot cable in some small town and metro markets across the state.
Records show that Keet has not purchased any air time beyond the end of this week.
Conversely, Beebe appears to be buying backwards from election day. His campaign has made a major media purchase of nearly $169,000 for the month of October on two Little Rock TV stations, KTHV and KATV. No buys are in the public files yet at stations KLRT and KARK.
