Womack far outpaces Whitaker in campaign fundraising
Rogers Mayor Steve Womack’s campaign collections between April and June were more than 28 times that of his Democratic challenger David Whitaker.
Whitaker and Republican Womack face each other in the November election to represent Arkansas’ 3rd Congressional District.
According to this report from TalkBusiness.net, Womack raised $256,777 in the second quarter of 2010 and ended the quarter with $21,239. Whitaker raised $9,045 in the same period, and ended the quarter with $9,846.
Womack, who narrowly survived an primary runoff race against Sen. Cecile Bledsoe of Rogers, is considered the favorite to win the race. The 3rd District seat has been held consecutively by a Republican since 1967. Recently, the Arkansas Election Line rated the 3rd District race as “Safe Womack.”
Thursday was the deadline for federal and state candidates to report their fundraising totals and expenses for the second quarter or the month of June.
